who have turned their compassion into action by volunteering.
All our volunteers are wonderful front line workers
who chose to donate their time to help our callers.

Who
Needs Us the Most?
Everyone.
From our beginnings in 1974, approximately 2% of the
Distress Centre's calls came from people suffering from
mental or emotional illnesses ranging from depression
to irrational behaviour.
Today,
more than 33% of all our calls are of this nature. For
many such callers we are their only source of daily
support. That leaves 77% of callers who are ordinary
people just like you who are trying to make it by.
It's
more than a job to us
We're here to give support.
Every
month more than 3,000 people in Peel Region call the Distress
Centre Peel. They are ordinary people who are facing difficult
life situations, having lost their job, a loved one or who
are attempting to overcome alcohol and drug addiction.
They are
afraid, certainly alone. They may be depressed, in crisis
or thinking about suicide.
At Distress Centre
Peel we're here for them, for everyone in need. We give support,
crisis intervention and suicide prevention. Learn more about
our programs.
