About Us

Distress Centre Peel provides free 24 hour telephone support, crisis intervention, and referral to other agencies where appropriate, for people in distress in Mississauga, Brampton and the Town of Caledon.

Our Beginnings
In 1972, the drowning of a Mississauga mother and her two
children could have been a murder-suicide.
In response to this tragedy, a group of concerned citizens
founded Distress Centre Peel.

So anyone else in pain or crisis would always have a place to turn.
Since then, the Distress Centre has grown into a vital community
agency serving callers in the Region of Peel.

Distress Centre Peel also provides education and training to the
community on topics such as suicide and active listening.

Who Answers Your Calls?

Every call is answered by a highly trained volunteer. Each volunteeris skilled at every thing from providing community information to crisis management. But the greatest skill of our volunteers is their ability to listen.

What Are Our Hours?

Our phone lines are open around the clock, seven days a week.
